Mayor Cadart received the LGAT Award
It was a touching and proud moment that brought a few tears all round - the Local Government Conference dinner in Hobart, July 2013.
Bertrand Cadart was presented with a Life Members’ Award for Meritorious Service – an esteemed accolade which recognises those who have made a demonstrable contribution to local government across a range of areas including innovation, entrepreneurship, new or improved services, or engagement and consultation.
As if receiving this award wasn’t enough of a bombshell for Bertrand, he was left bewildered when his daughter Anne-France Cadart, who lives in Queensland, made a surprise appearance during the presentation. For once, Bertrand Cadart was lost for words! See the video here.
The Local Government Association of Tasmania described Mayor Cadart as an inspiring leader and a worthy recipient of this award given his long list of achievements. Since being elected to the Glamorgan Spring Bay Council in 2005, Bertrand has worked diligently to shine the spotlight on Tasmania’s east coast and improve services for residents. He has tackled the important issues head on including health, water quality, bushfires, drought – the list goes on. You can read more about Bertrand’s achievements here.
